Seven quirks meme

matociquala tagged me this weekend (this morning? last night?) to respond to a meme that asks for seven quirks specific to me. As Madame Bear is so gracious as to include me, I respond thusly:
1. I understand motivation very, very well...except when it’s my own. Don’t expect me to always follow the behavioral rules I ask of you.
2. I adore angst as long as it’s in character. The more heartbreaking something is, the more likely I will be sniffling when watching/reading/listening to it.
3. That said, there are some things which are simply too heartbreaking for me to handle, and I will turn away. Maiming or killing of helpless creatures falls in this category. If an animal dies in your fiction, there had better be a damned good reason, and I may still boycott said fiction. Life is too short for me to make myself miserable over something I cannot change.
4. I trust my instincts, and am always honing them through observation. I tend to pick up on undercurrents. I love fiction that uses those undercurrents, those little observations, to drive the plot.
5. I am not a social creature. I can be, and have been, and will be, alone in a room full of other people. I don’t care to be touched by strangers. I changed dentists once as a result of this, by mutual agreement. If I don’t swell up full of prickles after you approach, it’s because I like you.
6. I am not patient, and am definitely of the “lead or follow, but get the hell out of the way” school of movement. Do not expect me to stroll, unless I am exhausted. I like to follow a good leader; if you are not one, do not expect me to follow your instructions without question.
7. I have an alter-ego. It has teeth, and bays at the moon, and is a charter member of Team Doom. And we are more numerous than you think.
