WTF?

AIM is my new enemy. It spent all yesterday evening denying me access to my friends, and I was Not Happy. Of course, I was also dead tired, but I don't think it was a problem on my end. This morning, the system also appears to be down, but again perhaps that is me. I shall try again later, when there is likely to be someone in there.

Anyone else having specific AIM (that would be AOL Instant Messenger, for the uninitiated) problems?

NB, added later: I ended up having to create a totally new screen account, but I'm back in.
Thus far, though, that has not worked for others of my friends. AIM, you are not forgiven.

AOL and I parted company last March.

Let's just say that AOL and I will never be on speaking terms again. Don't forgive them.

We're looking into finding a different service under which to hold our evening chat room. As far as I can tell, AIM is still screwed up. (My new screen name is fine, as I just verified, but a lot of my friends still can't get on.)
