(Use #213 for an LJ: as a memory jogger for its owner)

Review of Thai Kitchen's Noodle Cart single serving Pad Thai boxed lunch, purchased this past week at my regular grocery store. The display caught my eye while looking for soy sauce. I'm always looking for new, interesting things to have for lunch that don't cost a fortune, and this was about the same cost as a Stouffer's frozen entree, so let's give it a whirl, says I.

The instructions are easy to follow - put noodles in the included tray, add water to cover, heat in microwave until boiling, let sit for a minute, drain water and add oil and seasonings. The little tray is actually a clever thing with a lid that has two holes cattycorner to one another so you can tip the whole thing and drain it into the sink. Noodles "cooked" up just fine in the time allotted. Oil and seasoning packets opened without need to resort to scissors or knife (though I'd needed a knife to open the noodle packaging). Once thoroughly mixed, the dish actually tasted pretty good - just spicy enough to let you know you've eaten something without setting your mouth on fire, not too salty.

I looked; no MSG, which is a headache trigger for me. The box also says it's gluten free and vegan, for those of you for whom those elements are an issue.

Verdict: I'll buy it again. Good quantity for the money spent. Nice flavor. And I think the tray may be reusable!

ETA--while I'm at it and still have the box, I might as well list the nutritional summary.

It sounds slightly posher and less additive laden, but - well, it sounds like Pot Noodle.

Except.... Do you have Pot Noodle in the States?

Yes. Noodles in a plastic pot - just add hot water. British students would starve without them.
