Courtesy of Dr. Witschey, I'm now reading Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs & Steel, which explains Diamond's theory of why it was the Eurasians who did the conquering and what factors led them to be able to do it. It's not the easiest book I've ever read - I'm finding I need to be concentrating to keep track of Diamond's progress through his theory - but it's interesting and I'm learning a few things.

This is a honking big book. Good thing I have it for three more weeks.
