Back from three days in Lynchburg VA for a garden tour - as is our apparent curse, we brought record heat and humidity with us, which promptly broke not half an hour after the tour concluded. The couple of days afterward have been a real joy, however, our reward for enduring. I've got a few photos up on my Flickr page (here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8556491@N07/).

I can tell the point at which the heat got to me. The photo shooting really tails off. >:-)

How hot was it? These guys can tell you:

It's hot, man!

Arriving back home, I discovered this:

Baaaaby watermelon!

Baaaaaaby watermelon! As with the zucchini, the plants apparently have reached their magic tipping point and are popping out tiny watermelons left and right. The vines are getting so long I'm having to wind them back on themselves so they don't get stepped on in between the rows.

Watermelon, now there is a summer sight!

I opened your Oatmeal Cookie recipe just now and then shut it. *sigh* I'm alone until Monday. Not a good time to make cookies. Must wait until Julien gets home.

I do not doubt it. I hope the next "big present" I get is an ice cream maker, a good one. I miss ice cream, but my palate has evolved beyond what you can get at the grocery store. I can't stand to eat that any more...

Ginger-plum jam, however, I could make. (I just might be able to pick enough worm-free plums.) Did you make yours? Wanna share your recipe?

*lol* I was just about to say "discipline be hanged!" but I just remembered that I used the last of my flour to make pizza dough for tonight. I have to wait until after all.

Not knowing who Julien is, I would still suggest that it's not a bad time to make cookies. Instead, it's merely a good time to make cookies *twice*. It's all about how you frame the situation :)

*lol* I like your logic; I'm very tempted by it...

*re-opens the recipe...*

Crud, no flour. Must wait after all.
