Fire and mayhem ocurred as planned, the wrinkle I had not at first foreseen has been put into play, and we have closure. Satisfaction, too, I trust, though the measure of that will have to wait until I can clean it up and get me some readers.

But it is DONE!

You're the only one of my Flist who began novel_in_90 who finished it with their goal met.

There were, what, 200-plus of us at the start? Everyone wants to join something new. But discipline is a hard master, man, and this thing was all about discipline. I think I'd have been one of the drop-outs if I'd tried this two or three years ago. I had neither the maturity nor the confidence in my writing that I needed to keep pushing when the words were hard to come by.

There are now about 30 who post regular word counts. What do you want to bet those 30 have a higher rate of eventual success (as they define success) in their writing goals than those who drop out? And how many are published already, and using this community to shore up their discipline? I'm convinced of its value already; I don't need the proof, but I think it would make an interesting statistical study.

Thanks! And here's someone who did not think she had it in her, let me tell you, to work at writing every day. It took seven years to get to that point. And I'm glad I did, because I've proven something to myself in the process about the reality of the goal of writing for publication. I don't need to be scared of the production aspect. I can do it, when I want to.
