clarentineI have been booted in the butt, metaphorically speaking. I will delay no longer: the query letter for my first choice agent goes in the mail tomorrow. Good thing I had already created a really snappy blurb paragraph to describe the book, Cavalier Attitude. Also good is being able to say I encountered this particular agent, Joshua Bilmes, at WorldCon 2004, in Boston; I'm told (and think it makes perfect sense that) agents like to know you've done your homework in choosing them to query. Mr. Bilmes's description of his handling of genre and cross-genre fiction was persuasive, and he did not intimidate me as did some of the agents I met and heard speak.
Bilmes requires a query letter with SASE. I have one ready to go. I have stamps and envelopes.
