AIM for Mac?

Hey, all you Mac people out there - have any of you downloaded the new version of AIM built specifically for the Mac? Have you had any problems with it, or heard of anyone who has? I'm loathe to download something that's going to cause me grief when I already have enough stuff to be dealing with.

Adium is a client that runs AIM and almost every other IM setup that you can think of at the same time, so you can be signed in on everything at once. It's pretty nice and very stable, and fairly customizable. (I have a GIR icon set from Invader Zim. heh.) And it doesn't have ads or any of the other junk that AIM throws at you. It occasionally has issues with file transfers, though, if you use AIM a lot for that.

Ah ha. I am not liking AIM - it keeps dumping me every time I forget and double-finger drag the mouse, like I can in Mac applications, and I hate being dumped. I may just try Adium. Thanks for the rec!

The dock icon is a duck. It flaps its wings when you have a message. ;)

So, tell me. Do you use your AIM login still or have to create a new one, or something? I'm intrigued.

I use my AIM login(s). I also use Yahoo login, Gmail login, and LJ. If I had MSN Messenger, Jabber, Facebook, Bonjur, ICQ...it would also use that. Alas, the only one I have that it doesn't is Skype, but Skype requires things Adium doesn't use. Voice and video. There's always iChat for those on AIM.

Yes, it's really fab. It has tabs for all your stuff in one window. And it uses Growl, which is a notification program that flashes up background chat at you while you're on another window. :)
