Understood. I formulated the question badly.

I seem to be working on understanding the essence of faith. I suppose what I was after was, do people generally agree that faith leads to submission, or am I totally off base?

It might depend on the entity worshipped. My God requires that I think for myself, else why did he give me brains and curiosity? But the god of certain other "Christian" sects seems to think that curiosity is a tool of the Devil, to be denied and destroyed. Guess which deity wants blind obedience.
