We didn't do as much this year as we have in years past, in at least one sense; we didn't travel to TN (trip postponed until the weather is better). Nevertheless, we did manage to accomplish some things:

--We bought, and had installed, a woodstove (okay, that's cheating, since it was installed the week before vacation began...but I'm counting it), a Jotul 3. It's gorgeous, small but very efficient, and the house has been nice and warm. Win!

--We used a rented woodsplitter to break down the dump truck load of logs T brought from his friend's land-clearing last winter, and have trimmed some of those to the shorter length required by the woodstove. Who knew woodsplitting could be so much fun? No, they did not get a photo of me wearing the "ears."

--We got the Christmas tree up, then down, and we managed not to kill each other in the process. We will need a smaller tree next year to better fit the space we have.

--I baked my brains out and finally declared myself finished. Done. Kaput.

--We cleaned up the heap of old split logs left behind by the previous homeowner.

--I got the first of the areas to be landscaped, the small garden behind the house, measured. Have to get the measurements transferred to trace today before going back to work tomorrow.

--We played The Good, The Bad, and The Munchkin often enough that we each won at least once.

--I got through the middle of the Bells book on rewrite. Maybe I'll get some more of that done today.

All in all? I think I enjoyed myself. >:-)

Happy New Year!

Woodstoves are very nice and warm. Plus, if it has a flat top you can cook on it when the power goes out, in addition to heating the house when the power is out.

And yay on the writing! That's great.
