Are you moving your journal as a result of the stated plans of LJ's new owners to increase the number of ads? If so, where are you moving?

I am very tempted to move. But it's like effort, and I'm not sure where would be a good place to switch to.

Although I am signing up for an InsaneJournal account, just to have the option of moving somewhere else. And if ads start turning up on my lj here, or they introduce more shit like that Adult Content thing, I'll move.

Yeah, I won't move for good unless there's visible exodus. But I suppose you read [livejournal.com profile] pecunium's post, and followed the link to the interview with The Management?

I do not like that attitude. That's all I'm saying, without going into immoderate detail.

Yeah, that's the one I read. It made me very tempted to move entirely, for I do not like the impression which I received from that interview, which is The Management only cares about their needs and their advertisers' needs, rather than the needs of their content providers and customer base.

I mean, I like having a basic account - I hate ads - and being able to be part of a community here. (It's not like I've many ties to any sort of RL community with similar writing and SFF interests.) But.

This may be true. But I don't have to like it. :)

Step 1: Make sure you are using Firefox
Step 2: Apply Adblock Plus plugin and, if necessary, the Remove It Permanently plugin.
Step 3: Repeat "screw you, hippies" as often as necessary when you are untouched by the ads, regardless of frequency and number.

I'm sorely lacking in the execution of step 3; I'd better catch up on that :)

Firefox is an excellent alternative to Safari, as well :) Seeing as how there aren't any ad-filtering plugins for Safari that I'm aware of.

To be honest, I've to date found only one advantage Safari offers over other browsers under OS X: It's aesthetically pleasing. And I haven't gone to the effort of loading skins up on Firefox, so for all I know that's not an actual advantage.

And, as a new owner of a Macbook Pro:
You have a Mac? Congratulations! What kind? What did you name it? :)

No ads on paid accounts which I have and they will have to pry out of my cold, dead fingers.

Not going anywhere. No place else lets me lock posts and have the same features.
